We hold our fair every year on the last Wednesday and Thursday in September. We’ve been going for 16 years in total but it started off in a low key way in someone’s house as part of the Macmillan Coffee Morning. Over the years it has grown enormously and for the last 11 years, we’ve been lucky enough to be given space at Whittlebury Park as our venue. We have approximately 65 stallholders each year and last year we raised £23,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, Helen & Douglas House Hospice in Oxford and Child Bereavement UK. We have raised £185,000 in total.
We had approximately 800 visitors on the day last year, gained mainly from direct mailing. We have our own database of over 3,000 names and addresses and, on top of that, local schools are kind enough to send invitations home in school bags.
To give you an idea of costs, we charge £85 for a 6ft pitch, £127.50 for a 9ft pitch and £170 for a 12ft pitch. Trestles cost £5 each. We ask for 10% of takings and a raffle donation. 100% goes to our chosen charities.
